So a little earlier this week I was in the works truck / daily and had been doing some running around to keep our present site moving - I was returning to site with the help of the sat nav and had traveled down a short length of dual carriageway and was stationary in the outside lane behind several other vehicles waiting to get on to the roundabout - inside lane likewise but with a couple of vehicles less in the line - In the mirror I clocked a blue car spanking it towards me (60 MPH +) in the same lane from the top roundabout - with 25 metres to go he decides that the inside lane is a better prospect but cannot see the row of stationary motors until committing to the lane - there is just the length of my truck before the standing vehicles - he is on to the brakes and I am expecting to see the BMW in the adjacent lane get rear shunted - but then the rear end spins out and he shunts the nearside of the truck with the front of his car.
I had not even got out of the truck when the damaged car was booting it up the dual carriageway in the wrong direction - I managed to get reg number by writting it on the side of the truck in the dirt - thankfully a couple cars coming on the carriageway at the top blocked his exit -so he then had drive the 400 metres back down the road to face the music.
And a likely pair there were too, several other cars had stopped and one guy had already called the plod, the driver of the offending vehicle offered to sort my truck out with cash - which I refused (it's not my truck - and I have to follow a company procedure) having said that I had also clocked the no road tax, blacked out front windows - and was expecting no insurance etc - another brave member of the public walked up to the damaged car and took the keys out of it - when the driver went in to a rant that it was his car / his keys etc the guy just said youv'e attempted one runner - you are not getting the chance to another.
Plod turns up and starts to deal with the pair, the driver produces a cover note that commenced one hour ago, and used the excuse of having just bought and collected the car for the no tax. Theres some damage to the truck all repairable etc and no one injured - a few other motorists / members of the public also put a little faith back in society with their actions - Just glad I was not in any of the classics

No doubt he'll get a ban which he'll then ignore and a fine which he won't pay... Not that I'm being cynical or anything...
Re: Hit & very nearly run
