Introductions

Here's the place to chat about all things classic. Also includes a feedback forum where you can communicate directly with the editorial team - don't hold back, they'd love to know what they're doing right (or wrong of course!)

Hi Mark, welcome to the forum!

Any chance of some pictures of your TR7 resto?

Cheers!
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

ah maybe I should have done this when I joined the forum a month or so ago ,but hey here goes !
well I'm a 43year old train driver instructor from manchester (I thought being into classic cars you'd
like the train driving thingy lol but its really boring ! I should know Ive been at it a long time)

anyway cars ,when I was 16 I got a motorbike and remember telling my parents ,motorbikes are for
me and you wont get me in one of those metal box's ,well after many fairly powerfull motorbikes I reluctantly
passed my car test in 92,then I had to eat my words as I quickly went from the also ran escort mk3 1.3 ,to a bigger
escort then :-

bmw325,mk2 xr2,mk3 escort1.6ghiax2,405gld,405sri,405mi16,309gti,tr7dh,golfgti,porsche 944,mr2mk1x3,306x3,bmw330ci,alfa 156 2.0jt,porsche boxster987,bmw325i(new)

you could say I like cars but if theres one thing Ive learnt more recently the older cars Ive had have been the most enjoyable and the newer
the biggest disapointments espec. the porsche boxster with its very fragile engine ,and sometimes Ive bought newer cars pherhaps because Ive listened to someone elses opinon rather than my own opinon , Ive been reading practical classics and car restorer since about 1992 ,currently I have the mr2mk1 1986 (thats in the project section!) and a 07 reg bmw325i for everyday driving which is a loverly car but quite boring and of course virtually nothing can be done at home so repairs have to goto a bmw specailist so I feel I never really get to know the car ,I am planning to sell the bmw ,I was thinking porsche 944s2? maybe lol something I'm planning to do next spring
when the insurance runs out

Hello folks,
I'm Slorach, from Aberdeenshire.
I'm a Practial Classics subscriber and a Classic / Retro car nut .
My daily drive is a '99 Subaru Impreza RB5, I also have an '83 Opel Manta Berlinetta for the summer months and an '80 Mk2 Escort RS2000 project which will definitely be on the road sometime next year....honest.
I found this forum just by chance by seeing a post of Facebook that mentioned it.
Here's a pic of my 2 money pits :)

Hi there,
Rob here, from the Netherlands. Only 55 years young. Married to Rose from Brazil. Working abroad, currently on rotation, but been living abroad as well for many years.
As we just moved back to Holland from Oman, we're currently in a small appartment, but working very hard on a barn conversion in rural eastern Holland. That should give me a substantial man-cave, in which I can pick up the classics hobby again.
Currently use a 2003 RAV4 as DD, but also have a '77 Toyota Celica TA28 which is in reasonable good knick.
Got a subscribtion to the magazine a few years ago as a birthday present, and loved it.
Had quite a few old bangers in my younger days, which are considered classics now... Oh, wish I'd known that then...............
Anyway, probably won't be a big poster, at least not until I can get the tools out of storage again.
Here's a pic of the old lady('s)....

Hi from Newcastle Emlyn/West Wales,

Matthew/Milli/Woody on depending on who you speak to - been watching and the odd(?) comment for a while (including the original forum(!).

No classics at the mo as no storage and complete family upheavel over last 18months has put it all on stop. Interested in all things mechanical, PC/IT background of 30years and based in West Wales. If anyone is local and wants a hand in the week/weekends locally ish to assist with anything - either something won't start or an engine removal or a lift/tow with a new project then let me know as would like to help as I've nothing of my own to cut my own fingers on ATM! Even if a potential project is in my neck of the woods and you'd like someone to pop over and take a few pics etc....

If someone is foolish enough to take me up on this then email/call is the best idea as sometimes I dont get a chance to check these forums.

Thanks,

Hi there. I've just moved over from Aus with the family - for at least a year but we'll see. We had to sell everything to fund this adventure, however I was 75% through the rescue/reno of a 1957 MGA roadster. Ex-US car imported to Aus. Started the reno in '97 (does that sound like a familiar reno story) but ran out of everything - time, space, money and patience. We are now scouring the classifieds for a reasonably priced drivable MGA. Anybody have one for sale???????? convict69

I am Tom and an old gaffer. Just turned 70 but still interested and playing about with cars.
Have a 1981 Lancia Montecarlo Series 2, 1975 Lancia Fulvia Series 3, 1972 Hillman Imp and now added a 1960 Hillman Husky Series 2 to the fleet. All have MOT's etc but IMP is being re-engined at the moment. 875 to 930cc with Weber 28/36 DCD.
Will post some pics later.
