I'm guessing some drivers have special licences....

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

I don't know when I last had to defrost a car (OK I cycle to work), as I am one of those rare people, who uses the garage for it's intended purpose :!:

However, one of our customers was killed by an idiot "Tank driver", who had seemingly removed about the width of a credit card of ice from his screen, before setting off (The driver was a Frenchman too; lucky for him he wasn't at home in France, as they take a much dimmer view of knocking cyclists over than we). He ploughed straight into the back of our customer, who died a week or so later, from his injuries. Ten + years on, I wonder whether something like a Light & Motion VIS 180 rear light would have penetrated the frost on the screen and turned it slightly red, so the clown, in the car, would at least have realised there was someone there (Our customer had a few lights on his bike but the Light & Motion VIS is a monster of a light, albeit small in size, the kind of which was not available then) :?: I guess we'll never know that :!:

Idiots like that really annoy me too. I had to scrape the ice off my car on Tuesday morning and driving to work i saw 2/3 cars with only a patch scraped off the drivers side.
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Terry I have to admit that as I am not an abled bodied person. To help
clear my cars I leave them ticking over on the drive warming up and
defrosting the car so the ice and snow can be pushed off without
heavy work.(please note the drive is not visible from the road and ave)

Here is a problem, all those new drivers or the ones who don't drive for
long periods, getting behind the wheel during bad weather and causing
chaos because they don't know how to drive to the conditions. Or as
terry has said common sense goes out the window.

A person who doesn't maintain/service or understand the vehicles they
drive, probably has a higher chance of having an accident. This will be
down to a couple of reasons.

Someone who works on their vehicles will spot some defects/problems
without lifting the bonnet. For example steering wheel vibration and
know to get wheels balanced/checked and tracking done. Someone who
doesn't might just carry on using that vehicle regardless.

To add to the above that same person who carries on driving without
getting the vehicle checked will carry on driving at speed. But if it is a
person who does know the vehicle would more likely be dropping their
speed and changing their driving style accordingly(using common sense)
