Relatively speaking, until last Sunday, September has been quite good.If there is any personal effect, it's just the realisation that the Winter has gone on for another year (We haven't had a Summer here since 2006), though perhaps realisation has now become expectation. It's simply a case of being choked off, rather than washed or blown away.
I have every sympathy with those who are knee deep in crap and of course there is the problem of getting insurance in the future and what this will do to the value of affected properties. Assuming the “Jet stream” isn’t just something dreamed up by the Met Office, then clearly research into diverting or blocking it needs to be carried out (On a global scale). I suggest this is more important than digging holes on Mars. As it stands, we are getting far too much wet weather and some places none at all, with dire consequences in each case. Far fetched perhaps but most things, that have been achieved, would have seemed far fetched at one time and a journey of one thousand miles does start with the first step.
Oddly enough, my father is reading a book about the 500cc Formula racing, that developed after WW2. It gives details of many of the races in the UK and many of them were wet. Is wet weather during “Summer” anything new
Perhaps not, though I think the weather post 2006 has been the longest “Winter” I can remember.
