changing MGB Fuel pump with full tank of fuel

Hello all

any suggestions how to change the fuel pump on a chrome bumper MGB roadster without draining the nearly full tank?

I guess I’m going to have to block the flow off with something once the pipe is disconnected, I have tried blocking off the tank filler to prevent air entering but it made little difference.

Anyone know what thread is on the union? I might be able to get a blanking plug

Assuming you havn't done it yet - if the flexy pipe to the pump is not too age hardened , in which case it should be replaced anyway, use mole grips with suitable wooden packing to close the the pipe - simples
