Hello Everybody. I recently re-built my anglia 105e engine and whilst it was out I fitted a new clutch release bearing as the old one was noisy,I re-fitted the engine yesterday and the noise that the new bearing makes is exactly the same as the old one leading me to the conclusion that it wasn't the bearing in the first place! The problem seems to be that the bearing is in contact with the clutch all of the time as when the car is ticking over in neutral it makes a whirring noise, yet when the clutch pedal is depressed about half way the noise stops,I would have thought that with the clutch disengaged the bearing would be far enough back for it not to be in contact with the clutch and consequently spinning all the time.I have tried all manner of adjustments of the domed nut on the arm from the slave cylinder to no avail I have even tried pulling the clutch fork towards the front of the car but it just makes no difference.I used the old clutch assembly as it looked to have life left in it but was wondering if the fault in fact lies with the old clutch maybe the 3 forks could be bent or out of adjustment. What do you think?
Cheers Keith.

No I don't think my car originally had a carbon pad,I know a 493a prefect did 'cos I used to have one but the 105e had a roller bearing type and I did a like for like swap.

Re: noisy clutch release bearing
The noise could be coming from your gearbox, depressing the clutch disengages the drive to the box, has the gearbox got any oil in it? Was the spigot bearing in good condition? Just a thought.
