Yup, mini sport filter, rebuilt engine with slipper pistons, all bearings replaced, recon head, LCB manifold and free flow exhaust, mini sport intake manifold that when I built the engine was fitted with a later HIF carb.
The old carbs junk now after the last owner so I put a carb I had laying around off a high compression marina 1275 coupe to it and though perhaps a touch lean (not much) looking at the plugs, would richen up a bit without bother. When I ran the car a year or two back with the HIF it was fine, though setting up was a little fussy and was unforgiving if anything was a little off showing its displeasure by missing a little. A good little goer though providing points etc were kept on top of.
The one thing that was never an issue was the cooling which was a new system also and is why I was a little surprised that it was now running good with no apparent pinking but boiling up after about ten miles. Anyway, fingers crossed that little bit of retardation has cured it, but I'll have to wait and see.
