Rich, I'm far too old to cope with all of this auto-eroticism. Please put health warnings on any future threads that you start about Micras.
K10s are lovely things really, but the clutch in manuals is a little on the soft side and tends not to last very long. I once bought a perfect example on a B plate that had (it was 7 years old at the time) covered a mere 3000 miles since new, but had to fit a clutch kit before sending it on to the auction as the original one was slipping so badly that we couldn't get the thing over the eyes of the spec lift without pushing it.
Autos use a similar CVT to the one used in the MK2 Fiesta and various Fiats of the period, but unlike that unit, the Micra one tends not to need a reverse clutch every other week at many hundreds of pounds. CVT ones are also noticeably quicker and can be more economical than manuals because the engine's always in its torque band unless you use the low ratio hold switch which makes it possible to take on Audi TTs on motorway entry ramps.
Up to 60, then the Audi will vanish but that's hardly the point.
Rick, that red H plater looks absolutely bang on. These things are often without rust and that one kind of supports that belief, if you see one that needs welding, walk away unless it's ridiculously cheap as there are still plenty of untouched shells around in similarly immaculate condition.
Rich, that silver F plater looks good but given how rare it is that these show much in the way of rusty bits, I'd check very carefully that there's nothing crumbly about the sills. It's entirely possible that the two holes mentioned are really all there is wrong and the interior looks fine.
Were it not for that ugly tab burn in the back seat, I'd leap on the late model manual too. In fact sod it, just buy the thing! Nissan themselves will probably be able to provide a new cover for that side of the seat base or you could put a tartan rug over it. That's a cheap car by any standards.
...and could you pass me the keyboard cleaning stuff if there's any left after you've had a session on the Micras please.
