Japan tsunami 'ghost ship' drifting to Canada
Japan tsunami 'ghost ship' drifting to Canada
A Japanese fishing vessel swept away by the March 2011 tsunami
has been spotted adrift off the west coast of Canada.
An aircraft patrolling the seas off British Columbia saw the 15m
(50ft) vessel seen floating 275km (170 miles) from the Haida Gwaii
islands on Friday.

The question is will anything else turn up like this?

Considering the size of the Pacific, there's likely to be stuff that we'll never see again... And as the article says, "The main mass of the debris is not expected to make landfall in North America until March 2014."
…that's why Allegro will look as good 5 years from now as it does today.

It appears the article had been amended and now says
So as I had copied the first few sentences of the original artificial,
I copied and posted their mistake!
it had been edited 12 hours after it had originally been posted. An aircraft patrolling the seas off British Columbia saw the vessel, which is about 50-metre (164ft) long, floating 275km (170 miles) from the Haida Gwaii islands on Friday.

Didn't they use that container load of plastic ducks a few years ago to see where the sea currents went...

Re: Japan tsunami 'ghost ship' drifting to Canada
OH!!! BUGGER!!!!!!
Think of last years Japanese earthquake and tsunami was BIG?
There are news articles out that says the next one would easily top that!
This story has been mentioned on a couple of different TV Stations over
here.

So it might not be if the next quake hits Japan will we all have supply
problems for anything from the WHOLE region but when?
(Computer hard drive prices went up as Indonesia, South Korea and others
were effected by the last quake so not just Japan that was effected)

Frightening tsunami prediction for Japan
TOKYO: Much of Japan’s Pacific coast could be inundated by a tsunami
more than 34m high if a powerful earthquake hits offshore, according to
revised estimates by a government panel.
The panel of experts says any tsunami unleashed by a magnitude-9
earthquake in the Nankai trough, which runs east of Japan’s main island
of Honshu to the southern island of Kyushu, could top 34m.

Re: Japan tsunami 'ghost ship' drifting to Canada
Not to mention the long overdue earthquake near LA... The whole Pacific ring is known for earthquakes, etc, so its hardly new news... Perhaps we should start producing them over here, the only thing likely to stop production is snow in April!

Re: Japan tsunami 'ghost ship' drifting to Canada
What? Like todays snow?

If an earthquake hits the US in the right spot, it'll break into pieces and (your choice of coastline) could fall into the sea. If an earthquake hits the sea in the right spot, IslandX will sink/resurface/move. If a bird sneezes on the right person with the right combination of risk factors, half the world will die of flu. And if a newspaper is seeing reduced revenues, they can publish a stupid story & gain thousands in advertising revenue from people going to gawp at their idiocy.
