hidden taxes in the budget and other price increases
hidden taxes in the budget and other price increases
You know what the chancellor has hidden in his budget?
Food prices going up!
When you go to buy that hot sausage roll from gregs or that cooked chicken from tescos.
Expect the prices to go up as it will have tax added to it soon, and that will also happen
to the take away meal you just ordered from the pizza or Chinese takeaway.
VAT is to be added!!
Mother took me food shopping as Christine isn't on the road yet.
The first thing we passed was the local petrol station.
£1.40 a litre of petrol (and thats the 95 octane)
I'm sure that last week the same petrol station was selling it at £1.35, and yet the 3p increace
on fuel duty doesn't come in till August!

Re: hidden taxes in the budget and other price increases
He's simply closed the loophole that allowed some outlets to get away with not paying the VAT on hot food. Stately homes, venue caterers, etc. Thing is, why should some have been avoiding the VAT when others were paying it? Better this than another overall VAT increase I reckon.

Hardly hidden, it was all over the front pages! All he's done is level the playing field, some takeaways already pay VAT, how do you think they felt about supermarkets getting away with it? the alternative was to cut it for everyone and that just wasn't going to happen was it!
As for fuel prices, ask the Oil Companies, any recent increase is down to them... I reckon he'll get rid of that 3p increase later in the year, it's all about spin, if he does it in August it makes them look better...

Why don't we all club together and donate £250000 to the Conservative party (As they happen to be in power)
We can then have dinner with them and have some strings pulled
Free road tax and fuel for all cars over 25 years old, paid leave for all classic car restorers and carers

I like the idea of being a classic car carer. Clearing up after all those little leaks, seeing the vehicle through it's dotage and when it eventually passes on having a nice little influx of cash to spend on something a little more sprightly.

Just noticed your location MidgetSaab; would that be the Toddington of Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway fame

Sorry it's the Toddington of M1 jct 12 services fame. A nice village not done justice by its frequent radio mentions. I've been to the Gloucestershire railway one though, my wife's from Stroud, that's lovely too.

I noticed fuel was up a couple of pence last week - even with the fuel shortage scares, where I normally go is back to pre-budget prices already.
…that's why Allegro will look as good 5 years from now as it does today.

The fuel prices going up has NOTHING to do with the budget.
