Hmm, not so, its an AAA that you'd need as a baseline (I quoted that for a Minor as I assumed that someone who owns one wouldn't be referring to a mini or ADO16, whose LCBs don't flow quite the same way as the North-South one which takes full advantage of the width of the Minor's engine bay, but yes, you could chop the end off the transverse one, rotate it through 90 degrees and weld it back on), no payment required for that now, was there.
And there's the thing, the document is useful for identifying carbs from their tags and finding out those bits of general information that make up most of its content, but specifics, such as that question are best asked in web fora by simply enquiring among suitably experienced members and/or owners of the particular car what they've used to best effect and that, like the useful majority of the WinSU data, costs nowt.

Only a skilled rolling road operator can narrow it down further, given the cunning way in which no two engines behave in exactly the same way, even if they left the factory with sequential numbers stamped on them.

Yes, WinSU gives you a basseline, nothing more. But that may be all you want if you are not chasing the last 0.5hp. It was based on the combined experiences of a once-thriving Mini e-mail list that started in the days before the WWW and forums.

The guy who originally wrote it was named Scott Beavis. Last I heard of him, he was playing with MX-5's instead of Minis.

Well I paid my twenty quid and have to say that the needle suggested is the best I've had since I started tuning up the Moggie many moons ago ,and that has included a couple of rolling road sessions.No more flat spots and the lowest,smoothest idle speed I've ever experienced in the old girl!So I'd recommend Winsu.What's £20?-3 needles that are probably wrong anyway!
