Re: 'Zeb' - (Not a Classic) Bloggy!
Absolutely!
my mate with his 850 is wanting me to do his now! More fiddly spring clips coming on.
Drove about 130 miles yesterday with my 'jammer' (caravan) in tow, for a weekend in The Vendee region.
All went well, mileage (according to the onboard pooter) went to 25mpg, quite happy at that towing. On a worrying note, we got a bit of a clutchy type burnt smell at the toll booths..... Hoping my clutch is not 'on it's way' - no record of it being changed and pushing 178k, I guess it may be getting to the end.
Hope my mobile mec' is up to the job, cos it is way out of my league......

Glad the old bus is still going well Paul - if you do have to change the clutch, get him to do the crankshaft main seal while he's in there - only a couple of £ for the part, and if it does let go the whole lot has to come out again to do it.
But I'm sure you know this....
Cheers!

Thanks LB, yes I did know, as it is a recommend to do the 'rear' seal on 240's, so same thing really I guess. That said, I hadn't got my head in gear to think of it, so thanks for the heads upLuxobarge wrote:Glad the old bus is still going well Paul - if you do have to change the clutch, get him to do the crankshaft main seal while he's in there - only a couple of £ for the part, and if it does let go the whole lot has to come out again to do it.

Have been out an about this morn' guess about 50 or so miles with a mix of town and country, finishing up on a fab' beach with the dogs. Gave it some welly (as you do) with no signs of slipping, and rev counter not whizzing up majorly ahead of speed so if it is going home it is early days. When my 240s was going (I bought it with a dying clutch, good point of negotiation) my left knee was up beside my ear' ole by the she set off, lol. Zeb's is still nice and low........

Re: 'Zeb' - (Not a Classic) Bloggy!
Another run out this afternoon in Zeb' to our agility club, good practice sesh for Haiyla. Then driving back in the dark, about 15 or so Wild Boar! Straight out
had a car behind, far too close.... So braked to slow for the Boar and so as to control the prat behind , but still took one Boar out at about 20mph
. Another got hit by a car coming the other way
. Can't believe my front valence appears to have withstood the impact. Have checked at the roadside with a small torch. Can't see anything damaged underneath, but do have an oil leak that is 'new'. Not related to the Boar hit though, I reckon.
Will check it further in the daylight, before towing the van home.......

Wild Boar Strike

Minor damage- crack in the Wheel arch plastic rain guard thingy. Previously repaired after a minor car park shunt with previous keeper. More fibre resin stuff coming on.
Clutch, well have given it the all clear. Can't detect any slippage, coming over the bridge over The Loire, which is well steep. Loads of throttle in third, with the van 45mph and revs rock steady.
That oil leak, appears still there and very minor. Thoughts at the moment are that it may be from the sump gasket....... will keep an eye on it.

Re: 'Zeb' - (Not a Classic) Bloggy!
It appears Zeb has got some work to do this year! No change then really. Have a trip to Mansfield area planned soon, 'Jammer' (Caravan) in tow. Going via Calais, overnight in Honfleur & further in Oxon.
Later in the year he is being 'sent to Coventry'
Swmbo & daughter are going over to a conference/seminar jobby.
Then later still, another 'Jammer run' to Paws in the Park in Kent (the show organisers have made us an offer too good to refuse
), so a Calais run again!
I can feel the 200k arriving earlier than expected

That leaves you another 50,000 or so before it's properly run in then
