Electronic ignition

#1 Post by koogie »

Hi, just been fitting an electronic ignition system on my Rover V8, changing from the old points. Its the 2 wire system with the module on the side of the Dizzy, I understand that the old points earthed through the engine, but with the electronic system does the old earth wire going from the -ve of the coil get connected anywhere? The module's connected to pos & neg at the coil & the coil has its positive supply going to it, surely I'm missing something here.

IIRC that is all my set up has on the Triumph, the 2 wires coming from the box in the dizzy going to the coil, and the coil getting a 12v feed from the ign switch.

I can't remember how my origional ignition amp was wired however the piece of paper i have in the packet for my spare plug says:
"These wires are used for connecting the vehicle Ignition Amplifier module to an Ignition Coil with male or female terminals.
Red Wire +ve
Blue Wire -ve"
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.
