Re: Minor van in progress
So, here we are from start to finish, a rusting wreck to modern classic, the chassis was rotten, the roof top was so rusty it just lifted off, the front was missing as was the engine & gearbox, the interior had been eaten and basically if we hadn't revived it this van would have been gone forever. Now it's a front wheel drive peugeot 1500cc diesel with 5 speed gearbox, fuel tank should do about 1000 miles on one fill. new floor, new custom built chassis (front end), rear axle is ford escort van, exhaust is custom made, has a stereo and nice interior lighting, comfy seats (at the expense of a little leg room), brakes are disc front, drum rear dual circuit servo assisted, coil spring suspension on the front, lower wishbones are renault clio. A classic van with the functionality of a modern one. I hope this has been of interest, if you are thinking of doing something like this and need some help or advice just send me a message. Martin

Blimey! Not a standard tank then.....!CustomMoggy wrote: fuel tank should do about 1000 miles on one fill.
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.
Re: Minor van in progress
I should probably know this as i have replaced the braking system on my mog twice over the last 15 years but what have you done to make it duel circuit? has it got the standard peddles or have you replaced it with a newer (marina?) peddle box?

Re: Minor van in progress
Hi Terry, you couldn't do it the way we have without a lot of work, you can however do it this way, take your single pipe from the master cylinder to a remote servo, you will need to tap a hose from the servo into the inlet manifold to create the vacuum, the servo needs to have a dual circuit (3-4 outlet) master cylinder on it, then you connect each outlet to each brake, however I would advise a disc conversion for the front.
We used a pedal box from a pug 106, this has a transfer rod which goes across the firewall to the servo mouted on the left side and the brakes are fed from there, bear in mind we have a completely different firewall, floor, chassis and engine gearbox arrangement.
we do however have one with the remote servo arrangement, we used a ford sierra pedal box and a landrover master cylinder feeding a remote servo, however the firewall where the pedal box is mounted is near vertical, the thing to consider with the moggy master cylinder is the capacity of the fluid reservoir. The one thing I will say is your brakes are your life or someone elses, whatever you do please make sure they are 100% safe and reliable.
