MGA wing beading

#1 Post by 3xpendable »

I'm looking for the plastic wing beading thats used on MGA's, not the metal wing beading used on MGB's (but looks the same). Does anyone know where I can get some?

Have you tried Woolies? Frosts?

Cheers! :D

Is it the same as that used on the Morris 1000? If so, that's generally available so try any Minor specialist.

Woolies do it but in aluminium, I want rubber/plastic.

Thanks Willy, but I think the Morris beading is too rounded

Try this page at the vintage car parts site. Many forms of piping are there. 8-)

They're a helpful bunch too, so if they don't stock the correct style for your car, they'll probably know someone who does.

So it'll be T-piping you need then? Bottom of the above linked page. ;)

True, OhTwo, but that's mainly because I have the head of an elephant on the body of something vaguely human. :o

Thanks, Welshie, for the über-kind words. The way I see it is that this forum is as much about the mutual exchange of useful information as it is about drooling over pictures of other people's tasty cars (and vans, Land Rovers, house trucks, tractors, vacuum cleaners and wheelbarrows) so it wasn't a problem to spend a few minutes Googling. ;)

Please post some MGA-related pictures. I do love to see an MGA!

Yeah you saved me a lot of grief. Actually the beading is for an MGB, i'm building a V8 using my current GT as a donor car and pn the new shell the wing beading had corroded and I didnt fancy fitting metal beading back on as its a pain to shape around front wings and also is a rust trap. A fellow V8 owner told me he used plastic beading as fitted to MGA's because he used fibreglass wings so thats why I asked.

As for piccies? See the thread for yourself :)
