Re Mounting Herald/Vitesse Rear Body Tub

#1 Post by jonp »

Hi. Took your advice and checked that the chasiss was sound before I try to mount the REAR body tub.
I bought a body mounting kit from Fitchett [as someone advised] and it seems comprehensive BUT
on WHICH of the mounting points are the RUBBER washers[?] fitted please?
Which mountings are the THICK washers for?
There are TWO [2] thick slotted washers.Where are they for?
Thanks in advance.JonP.

I'm not sure if this is the correct way, but on my Vitesse I shuffled them around like shims until I got the best fit possible. The slotted washers are especially useful for this as you can press them into place without undoing everything. I didn't use rubber washers on the main mounts, but did use them on the seatbelt irons close to the centre to prevent water leaking in (some chance!).

Try asking on the Club Triumph forum.

Rarebits4classics is another good source of Herald parts and the owner of that business (Bill Davies) is a Herald guru and can answer your questions.

Another source of information are the factory parts catalogues and workshop manuals. Heritage do these on a CD-ROM/DVD-ROM.

I hope this helps.
