Carpets

#1 Post by hobby »

As the title says... Carpets... More particularly how to get some replacement ones...

I've tried all the obvious places, scrappies, ebay sellers of old 75-82 Princesses and Ambassadors, the online suppliers that supply them for "all makes and models", and the one advertising in the mag... Trouble is they don't do any for my 1982 Princess! One actually advertised that they do and when I ordered one emailed me saying they no longer had the patterns and hurriedly removed any reference to the car on their website!

So, does anyone know anyone that could make a set, or even just the front one and the sills would do... I could take the existing one out for use as a template if required!

That bald patch by my right foot is starting to annoy me!! ;)

You should be able to get carpet by the roll easily online. There are a bunch of sellers here in the US, but that would be pointless to you. Google automotive carpets by the roll and limit your search to UK only.

I wondered about that, there was an online seller doing that sort of stuff... But I thought it had to be "moulded" to fit the front well... on the Princess it is one piece all the way across... How can i get that done?

Have you spoken to Woolies? Very helpful over the phone, probably worth a call?
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

Molded kits will have to be made to order. No idea who would do it for a Princess. My GMC pickup truck has a molded carpet. When I replace it, i'll make a 3 piece setup like what comes standard on my Mercedes. Two floor mats and a piece on the transmission tunnel.
