Hi all,
In the process of trying to identify and obtain a starter motor for a 1500 Dolomite engine (which I've put in my Spit), I have been supplied a Lucas 25238A unit. Which turned out to be wrong. I now know that the correct Lucas part is 25213, but I would like to identify the rogue part in order that I can advertise it correctly. I can find no reference to this starter at all, anywhere!
I have found reference to a 25238 unit which is an inertia type. This is definitely marked 25238A and is a pre-engaged type.
As the mounting holes (two) match the 1500 engine, I'm guessing there's a Triumph / MG link?
Please help solve this mystery and possibly help me find a new owner for this obviously very rare part!
Cheers, Wotsie
Starter Motor Identification Help!
Re: Starter Motor Identification Help!
The Dolomite club is making exchange units available now as some suitable alternatives for the unique solenoid of the Dolomite 1500's starter have come to light, but if you're fitting a 1500 from a Dolomite into a Spitfire, then you'd be better swapping the flywheel for a Spitfire one so you can use an inertia starter.
