Jumped in my MGB this morning to be greeted with a fuel pump ticking continuosly. No sign of any fuel leaks. When I was checking the pump i pressed the end of the pump at the diaphragm end and the ticking slowed.
Later, the continuous ticking had returned and the fuel needle was swinging from side to side.
Then when trying later on the ticking suddenly stopped and returned to normal. But has since come back.
Any help will be gratefully recieved:)
Rapidly ticking MGB fuel pump
Re: Rapidly ticking MGB fuel pump
For this to happen the pump is iether sucking air (i.e. the tank is empty), there is a leak in the delivery line or a carb needle valve is not seating. As the problem seems to clear itself I would suggest the latter. Have you checked the carb vent pipes - these can often drip but a continuous drain means trouble.
In my experience you usually end up replacing the needle and seat as a leak usually means wear - they are very cheap from Burlin.
