I think I'll keep my eyes peeled for a Ford 107e as recommended but he Minor and Herald are still contenders. I would, dare I say it, consider upgrading the engine and gearbox. I've heard that a Morris Minor goes quite well with a Ford type 9 gearbox and an engine from a MGF.

Thanks for the alternative suggestions chaps but I'll be sticking to a 50's / 60's motor within the £2k budget. ;)

My father-in-law always fights the Allegros' corner and gets quite excited at the Beaulieau autojumble when he sees one for sale. Funny though how he's never bought one?! :lol:

Any car modifications done prior to purchase should always be checked over by somebody who knows what they are looking at and can recognise a good job from a serious bodge or potential death trap! I'd always buy standard and have any mods done by somebody who knows what the hell they are doing ...
