Replacement Exhaust

My AMC Rebel needs a new exhaust. There is zero chance of getting a New or New old stock one off the shelf, and anyway, the one that's on is non standard. It's a big car (American) but not vast like say a '59 Cadillac or some of those things from the 70s. I called a local highly recommended specialist and the chap suggested a full dual pipe dual silencer system as fitted currently but in stainless would be 900 smackers. Now I don't like to be tight, but the car probably isn't worth that (even though I paid 2.5K - fool!) but maybe I'm being unreasonable - as I said it's a longish car so will need quite a bit of pipe, so my question (finally!) is how much (if you don't mind me asking you paid for a custom exhaust system.

There are lots of bespoke exhaust places about eg http://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk/
I bought a falcon exhaust from rimmers but thought it was too loud so got those bods to make me up a new rear section with a more effective silencer. still sounds great but much quieter.
If you google bespoke stainless steel exhaust there are hundreds of companies that will make you one. There is guaranteed to be one fairly locally that you could take the car to and say "could i have an exhaust for that" and have it made up.

Thanks for all the responses folks - I have found a local supplier who can do the job, so really I wanted to know if 900 squid sounded a lot for the system. It sounds a lot to me especially considering the value of the car - but I've never bought a stainless system before.

I would put a considerable amount of money on not being able to source one off the shelf here in the UK - but I'd be thrilled to find I was wrong.
