What colour should an A series engine block be?

The sunny weather has prompted me to do some work on the mog. Under the bonnet looks tatty so i was going to give the engine a spruce up. Rocker cover in BMC engine green (easy to pick that one), the block is black but should it be matt or gloss?

Not in a Minor, no. It should also be green.

The only black A-series I can think of for fore & aft fitting is that from a Marina. If it's still 1098cc, then it must be from a Marina van or pickup.

I'm sure it's still a 1098. I will go through the service history and see if it has ever been out. It's been in the family from new (and i've had it for 15 years).
Bizarre!

The capacity is stated on the side of the block in fairly large letters, so that much is easy to confirm. I think that Marina 1098 blocks came without the removable tappet chest covers of the Minor, but could be thinking of the Marina 1300 which certainly had no removable covers.

Yes MOWOG green, you can get tins of it from the usual Minor suppliers, such as BM and ESM.

I'll order some paint when i buy my brake kit to tidy it up. A flaky rocker cover and tatty looking block make it look very untidy under the bonnet! (it might encourage me to finish rust treating and sealing the seams and put on some traffy blue)
I won't get to see my toy until next weekend but an extra day due to some toff getting hitched means i have plenty of time to tinker

Thanks for the advice one and all.
