But usually it's the console operator on the graveyard shift changing the price deliberately. Then he/she fills his car and all his mates before putting it back and hoping nobody notices.

Oh bollox! I've been using that very petrol station recently. The "normal" prices there have been the cheapest so I swing by on my way to work in Leeds.
