A-series new water pump leak - simple fix?

Hi all

I replaced the water pump on my A-series Allegro, but it now leaks from where the hose is attached.

The hose appears to be in place correctly, and I can't tighten the clip any more. It was fine with the old water pump, and the new one appears to have an identical outlet. So I'm not sure why it's leaking.

Can anybody suggest a simple fix for this? E.g. can I smear some Hylomar on the pipe outlet? Other than that I have no ideas for stopping this mysterious leak.

Thanks, Bolin.

Don't use sealant. These NEVER leak from here unless something is wrong, so you must have either a faulty hose or waterpump. Take it apart and investigate - sealant will just be a bodge and won't work long term.

It wouldn't surprise me if the new pump is faulty, the quality of "new" parts for our cars is often nothing short of shocking these days. That's why they are so cheap....

Thanks for your reply - I've taken the hose off and found two small splits on the inside end, can't be seen from the outside. I have a spare hose so all is well.

The new water pump was made by 'Firstline' - I didn't know who it made by when I ordered it, but I bought it from a company who sell mainly OEM parts (Leacy MG), so was slightly surprised that it wasn't a Unipart pump. I hope it's up to the job, if not then changing it again isn't too hard.
