At the traffic lights in Manchester today YVM 48T pulled up and sounded a bit tappety. I was wondering if the owner does his maintenance? If not,I have some tools he could use. Although,my tools are metric. Are Midgets imperial?

Hi - yes, everything on a Midget is imperial - mostly AF spanner sizes.

Sounds like he needs to adjust his tappets and probably do an oil change too eh?

Seen a very nice looking one for sale in Eccles, Manchester last week. Wasnt a lot of money and a great practical classic for someone.

T reg would be a 1500 Triumph lump. If it sounded tappety, it's probably in good condition!!

Oops! Yes, I should have noticed the plate in the first post. The Triumph thing is a very quiet, smooth and torquey engine for at least the first six hundred and thirty seven miles of its life, but once the death rattle comes, no amount of TLC will help so it'll be off to Coventry-based Jod Clark - the one person in the entire world who genuinely can build a 1500 that's both strong and lively - but, on the other hand, if that engine fits then so would a nice motorcycle engine!
I'm now wondering whether anyone has yet done that to a Spridget..

Is the bloke in the pic with the red cap scratching his head because he can't work out why that even though he filled the petrol tank up before leaving from home which is just 5 km down the road that he has still managed to run out of petrol

Where abouts in Eccles was the midget for sale?
I have a midget in the garage but think I really need another in my life.

It was in a garage off Liverpool Road.
