A school friend of my fathers has sent us a copy of the obituary for Jack Turner, late of Turner cars. See http://www.turnersportscars.co.uk/t_home.html for more details.

Jack Turner used to live in the old workhouse, about a mile from our shop. One of his local customers used to take his Turner to the home of Jack Turner, when it needed a service. Jack Turner used to stay in Wolverhampton during the week and would return on the weekend, with the freshly serviced car for his customer.

I see from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turner_(car_company) that Jack Turner had a heart attack in 1966 and this resulted in the business closing. Judging by the fact that he has just died, a little short of his 95th birthday, it appears he made a good recovery from it. A good innings but sad news all the same.

I remember someone used to hillclimb a yellow Turner, when I was hillclimbing.

I have since been advised by Russell Filby (Turner Registrar) that
"Jack never had a heart attack , It was as I
understand a gallbladder problem stemming from his Rugby accident as a 14
year old , but required a lengthy stay in hospital and with other financial
pressures and slowing business Jack decided to call it a day".
