IMO Moscovich ( spelling?).
This is worst car I have driven and it was new.

Moskvich, not that spelling it correctly would make it a bad car any more than nasty Russian bias belted tyres did. On decent radials, these things are fine, pleasant in fact and I missed the chance to own a really good one when they were still cheap and unloved. Now, like all of the cars from the old Eastern Bloc, they're lusted after by a dedicated and growing group of enthusiasts.



What you need to consider is that bad and good are subjective terms and you're on a hiding to nothing if you think that any genuine enthusiast cares even a little whether some geezer - driving around in an ancient remnant from the age of conspicuous consumption - gives a toss whether this person likes their ride or not. Actually, the more you knock the underdog, the more its loyal band of aficionados will protect it so well done; you just attracted another few dozen to the cause of the cars that civilisation overtook with its dark windows closed tightly, its air conditioning churning out air as cold as its driver.

Yeah, erm, sometimes, a vehicle is so bad that it's good. Oh what the heck, I don't believe that either but dissing the Moskvich? That's like punching a puppy in the face because it looks at you in a funny way.

I suspect Trabant will appear soon - breakdowns permitting!

However, for everyone who hates a certain car (eg Marina), there will be others that love them (I liked our Marina!).

I am not knocking anybody's choice of car. This is meant to be a light hearted thread. But unfortunately on this forum some seems to think I am having a go at the choice of car. I am not.

You know what car I own. I feel that some seem to think that I think other makes are beneath me. Simply not true. I like a wide range of cars.

The Moskvich IS the worst car I have driven. I haven't driven every car in the world.

The Moskvich was a demo van. I tested it as a replacement for a fleet of 10 Ford Escort vans. We brought Fords again.
The vans were driven flat out every where by builders. The Moskvich wouldn't have been accepted by the drivers.
The salesman suggested that the saloon version could replace our fleet of Ford Cortinas.

I had a Reliant Super Van 1972 and I was impressed with it. A Robin is better than a Regal. Also the Kitten is quite good.

I can name 3 all were second hand and each a pain in their own way!

1.The doors droppeed meaning unless you lifted the door as you slammed it shut it would close let alone lock!
2.No windscreen blower so trying to demist the windscreen when it was snowing was a joke.
3. Spare wheel underneath, this ment it was easilt nicked or hard to get to if you could get the car up to get to it!
4.The suspension leaked from different areas and IF it desided it wanted to work you had to wiat 30min for the car to rise to drive off! Or if parked on an un even surface jack the back end up what seemed like 4 foot o get over 2 " step in the pavement so the car could be towed to get repaired!
5. The engine went through 2 cam belts along with other damage caused by that

All that in under 2 months! it was scrapped!!!

Rover 213 and metro everything they said could be wrong with those 2 vars was and a shed load more!
from jacks going through both inner and outer sills in one go,To throwing the towel into the boot to see the towel and the floor of the boot leave the car under the towels weight!

Tom Jones and burning down the house on the radio and the dashboard going up in smoke at the same trime is a true story!

I quite like Trabants. I have only ever driven one with a ford CVH (I think, it may have been a pinto, was so long ago I've forgotten) but it looked so hopeless and was such a willing little car you can't dislike it.
The worst car I have ever driven, has to be a 1.4 corsa on an L plate. Gutless rubbish.
