Once you have stripped all the wallpaper from a wall and the plaster is slightly damp from the steamer, do you have to wait for it to dry before papering over or doesn't it make any difference as the wallpaper paste is wet anyway?

I'd have thought it would be OK the next day if the room is fairly warm - it usually takes me that long to clear up after stripping! Mind you, most of the walls I've stripped had paint behind the plaster. It may take a while for a lime-plaster wall in a damp house to get dry enough - so a friend told me after papering in his old and cold farmhouse.

Me? i prefer a coat of matt emulsion to paper - it's a lot easier (though rollers are just about essential for modern paints) and matt paint doesn't show the humps and hollows like stain does!

This is for the board room at work. How exactly it has become an IT issue I don't know but it's a dump and 2 of the helpdesk staff have been asked to strip and paper it. As neither of them has ever done it before I have shown them how to use a wallpaper stripper then was asked if they could put the paper straight up. Personally I just paint the plaster as I'm lazy but this wallpaper has company logos on it which would be a bit hard to do by hand.
I am really not a fan of DIY, even worse when it's someone else's DIY.

when i strip wallpaper i usually repair the walls rub them down & redecorate the following day. i give the walls a coat of paste first then pose the paper as required... i can give you a quote.

If the wallpaper paste is water based then it will be fine
