A few points:

Its most certainly not vintage

Its most certainly not worth £120k

Its most certainly got a scrape down the nearside has it clips the Porsche on the way out

There is probably £20k's worth of damage to the doors of the showroom

Finally - GOD they have got some balls :o

Doesn't it irritate you when the media refer to any classic vehicles as "vintage" :x

good point as value is grossly exaggerated.. wonder if it's for insurance and includes damage to showroom etc.even so ..best price I am aware of for a 72 mexico in perfect condition .low mileage.proven history would be around £30k .

There is also speculation that the same gang stole another MKI Escort on the same night.

Copied from Scottish Old Skool Escorts site:

Image

Gold mk1 Escort 1300E registration number RLO765L was stolen from Elstree Road Garage, Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire at 8:30pm on Tuesday 3rd March 2015.
The car had no fuel in it at the time it was stolen & was stolen by 3 people, being pushed in the direction of the A41 in Bushey.

The car is completely standard, has a black vinyl roof, an aerial located in the nearside front wing & the typical 1300E side repeaters in both front wings. The wings also have aftermarket wing mirrors fitted which will stand out.
The car has rust patches on the front edge of the bonnet & has the standard rectangular 1300 fog lights.
Anyone with any information should call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting crime reference J2/15/233.

Stolen the same night as the TVR powered Escort, possibly linked as there are only between 33-40 miles between Trackspeed & Elstree Road Garage.
Both had 3 people involved in the thefts
