Working just grand via the full address including the phpbbhosts bit, but the redirect to the elegant .co.uk isn't working and that means that people who don't have far too much time on their hands - to ponder the vagaries of living in the 21st Century - may think that you've switched off and run away with that lovely young Norwegian moderator from another car forum, which would be understandable, 'cos she is an absolute joy to behold

Members of the Renault Espace forum should be very, very careful.

There could of course be another explanation, which is that Terry discovered that another admin had brought the link home in his pocket with a view to giving it a quick seeing to, but forgot to bring it back again afterwards.

OK, you asked but it is boring.
The DNS for practicallyclassics.co.uk was disabled by the host as we needed to update some information with them. They had sent some requests by email to an address that doesn't exist any more asking for it. When John said that the domain wasn't working I spoke to the host and asked them what had happened, gave them the information they needed (contact details for the owner beyond the email address they had) and they turned it back on.

Most simply, DNS (Domain Name System) It is a service that allows you to type in a name that is easy to remember rather than a series of numbers to access web pages.

Rich, it looks like you're off the hook then! For now....

Just out of curiousity, Terry, how would one go about accessing the host for the purposes of providing that information to them if the person trying to communicate with the host no longer had any means by which to access the obsolete email address?
In other words; how would one demonstrate to the hosting service that the new email address was legitimate and being used by someone who had legitimate cause to access the host's settings for a particular domain, rather than some mischievous soul who wanted, for example, to make the owner of that domain look like a fool by pointing [the domain] at a different site?

In this instance John it was done by matching payment details.
I'm not sure if all your contact details had changed how you would go about it. It is a lesson in remembering to keep your domain registrations up to date when you move / change details.

I still think that blaming Rich was funnier.

Moi? Nothing mate, but this happened to one of my gormless* cousins and were it not for the fact that the paypal "kill the adverts" payments from the members of his local rodent enthusiasts' forum (fancy rats, hamsters, cavies, that sort of stuff..) still go to him, he'd be quite peeved. As it is, that forum has given him an income of some £2,840 over the last few years and he hasn't needed to lift a finger, other than to transfer the actual cost of blocking those ads to the hosting service!
On balance, I think it most likely that he'd sooner sit back and bank the contributions than have an active rôle and all of the pointless, sewer-dwelling vermin that go with it, or the rodents. A pet that can't fetch beer from the fridge is pretty pointless, IMHO.

Sorry, Rich, but Terry's sort of right in suggesting that blaming you is funnier than providing an essay on how the forum suffered from a very minor glitch for a very short time. It's not personal and I'm only agreeing because I quite enjoy not being blamed for stuff.
