What can I say? WOW!
The 50 year E-type article. Must be amongst the best ever reports in our favourite magazine. A great piece of motoring history. A fascinating character, Norman Dewis.
Just leaves one yearning for more of his anecdotes.
Thanks Matt, thoroughly enjoyed that.

Regards
Karl

Ahh yes been snapping at the bit to find out the issue with the Quattro clutch

Must say I was confused till I read it a couple of times. Begs the question why take the speedo sensor out? Can’t say I ever felt the need. You had Neil balanced on the engine bay holding stuff out of the way! Again why? The only things that get in the way are the rack and coolant rail, I’m assuming you removed the two bolts/nuts that hold the track rod assemblies to the rack and the bell housing bolt to release the coolant rail? These then just need tying up out of the way. I see you did not remove the front sub-frame why? This needs to be out of the way, it must have took you longer to remove the gearbox mount arms than it would have done to take the sub frame down.

I know someone coming along after the event and criticising is annoying so I apologise but surely before taking a job on like this it’s worth taking ten minutes to ask the best method? :)

Just got it - very nice - but why do you insist on slagging off the V12 E-type?

We've got one; it's rather nice as far as I'm concerned

I think it's rather a good issue, I've not read all of it yet, but so far, I'm impressed.
Regarding the V12 E-type, I wouldn't describe the article as 'slagging it off', rather it's an honest verdict on a late car. Even a series 3 fan will admit that it's not as pretty as an early car, and they were getting distinctly lardy by the end of the model's life. It's still a great car, but to many, the early E-type is better, as it shows the design as its purest and uses the legendary six cylinder engine. :)

The mags been sat on the side for a couple of days while I wait for a chance to read it.
Looking forward to the no more filler article on page 78 which I've given a very quick glance, we used to hot spray zinc from a wire roll for a protective coating in the 80's when I served my time making agriculutural machinery, think this might be similar process and a very interesting use of it given it will protect aswell as fill.
