Good morning

We have been asked by the Jaguar Drivers Club Area 11 to circulate the following

Jaguar

At the Croft Nostalgia Weekend over the last weekend, someone stole our recently purchased Jaguar ‘leaper. It was taken overnight between Saturday and Sunday. It has been reported to the Croft management, and the security firm who were on site the whole weekend, but if you see it advertised or hear of it for sale on maybe e-bay could you please contact Geoff Mansfield on 01388 722570 or 07715998110 or e-mail: gands.mansfield@gmail.com
Kindest regard

This is what he looks like and I'm taking a screen grab of this just in case the usual happens:

I saw one a bit like that outside an antiques shop in Villefranche-sur-Mer, not far from Monte Carlo, a couple of years ago. It had a price tag of 16,000 euros.
So how much is the stolen one worth, maybe?
And how did the tea-leafs get it away?

It must weigh a ton! I assume it is some sort of casting rather than fibreglass.

The most likely of the theories doing the rounds is that the tea leaf broke it clean off that base and shoved the ornament in their pocket. I guess that the circuit staff couldn't ask everyone whither that was a leaper in their pocket, there'd have been no other work done.

As for value, that will - with a bit of luck - be irrelevant by the time this is all over the internets. Small wonder that very few Jaguars are fitted with these nowadays. :(

 It's a bonnet ornament mounted on a trophy stand, I think that the impression of size in Brian's photo is perhaps misleading. ;)

Or have I misunderstood what this actually is? :|

I assumed it was one of these:

(scroll down to Jaguar Leaper Statuette)
or even bigger.

If it's beyond the "Jaguar Owner's Club" sign, I would suspect that it's a little larger than that - I'm assuming the JOC sign is on A4 paper and not on a business card!

Either way, it's a low trick and I hope it is found and the thief gets some meaningful punishment - like spending a day or two in a cage with some real Jaguars!

I'm sure the courts will deal what they deem to be appropriate (being made to write a letter to the victim saying they are sorry). Personally I think being made to clean pub / curry house / kebab shop toilets late on a Friday night while wearing a t-shirt saying "I am a thief" would be about right.
