Hmm, to misquote the current Volvo TV ad; maybe now
is the time to choose Hindustan? I'd sooner have the original with a B series and a Morris badge but the idea of an Isuzu Diesel without a DPF and running an AW65 automatic transmission does appeal. Anyone have a copy of the train timetable for services from Berwick or Edinburgh to Mumbai? Express only mind, and none of that sitting on the roofs if you please.

There is a member of the Hertfordshire MMOC branch who runs a Hindustan Ambassador (with aforementioned diesel) as his daily driver.
They have decent brakes as well as a slightly less antiquated engine. I can't think of a reason to keep them in production but for them to have lasted this long is seriously impressive.

Terry you have just given me an idea that the mag should run with!!
As they are slightly updated version of the mogie/oxford, and there are those who try to
give their old cars a bit of an update (better brake, gearbox etc) to make them more usable
why not do it with this particular vehicle.
(And this is where I get banned by the purists)
And as the rolling exemption date helps give one reason for older cars to be saved then let
the retro fit or ability to upgrade certain parts be another!

A few years ago there was a couple of chaps who set up a company to import the diesel engined version but I don't think that they had much success
As for updating classics, Classics Monthly did a good series of articles on that a while back and some of the cars were fantastic
