ive been looking around at work lights for some time.
i have 2 in my garage that i have been using..a 240v lead lamp that takes a domestic bulb (which doesnt take much breaking) and a similar 12v type. both ok but then i read this thread on retrorides (im sure you all would have read it too)

http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/ ... on-started

so, whilst at a local tool hire shop i spotted an offer on an led lamp that worked off aa batteries. it gives great light out and being magnetic, it is quite handy indeed..untill the battery runs out..lol
been doing a bit of clearing out in the garage, listed a few things on ebay and invested the proceeds on some tools for the garage.
i have ordered this lamp

http://www.ringautomotive.co.uk/uk/prod ... ps/RIL4000

not arrived yet, but i will let you all know how i get on.
if you havent read the thread on retrorides then its worthwhile, if only to take note of the fire risk when working on our cars sometimes

inspection lamp arrived today

tried it out a little in the garage and i am very impressed. feels well made, very versatile with magnets in the base and back as well as 2 hooks - one top and one bottom.
it also has a hinge midway so it can be mounted and tilted for maximum lighting of the work area.
comes complete with a 240v charger and a 12v cigarette lighter charger.

so, this is in my garage, totally in the dark with just the lamp for illumination

some various positions

so to summarize, and expensive bit of kit at £45 delivered but safe to use, great illumination and very versatile

Good choice :) That's one of the lamps that I have too.

I also have a pair of 500W halogen floods on a tall stand. Very good for keeping the garage warm in winter, but too hot to use at any other time of the year. I also have a flourescent floodlight and several LED headtorches scattered around the garage and workshop so I'm never very far from a light source.
