Is it just me or is every pile of crap now on eBay suddenly labeled as a 'Barn find' as if it somehow makes it worth more or justifies its condition, some of them have clearly never even been in a barn.!

No, it's not just you. Nor is it only the cars. Looking through one of the categories where I sell lots (Brixton briefcases), I spotted a seller who has several "barn find" items, though how anyone would want to keep these in a barn is a mystery to me:
No room for cars in this barn!
(Thae sets were all from a closing repair shop, not a barn).

I just had to follow that link as I had no idea what you were talking about - now I understand
Amazing coincidence - that 'barn' is in Derby and so am I

Did you see that his 'barn' also contained a Morris Minor Traveller rear door . . . . .

Given that both my boys love leaving all the doors to the house wide open, that must make my house actually... a barn.
Everything I find in it is a barn find?

I've been having this exact same conversation about 'barn finds' with my mates recently. Its everywhere now, one eBay listing said 'barn find' and when you read the description it says that he parked the car up in his garage 14 months previously! Its only a barn find if its actually a barn and he completly forgot it was there and therefore found it. Clutching at straws springs to mind
Another irritation for me is sticking 'Rare' on everything. I drive a P6 and have also noticed that some parts are being sold by people who don't know what they're selling but because its old it must be 'rare' and therefore expensive. A case in point is 3500S wheel trims, these are ten-a-penny and are should sell for between £10 and £20 for a set but the times these are listed as 'rare' and have a starting bid of £50 plus just beggers belief

I love some of the adverts that you come across these days, anything that is crusty and been under tarp around the back for a few decades is a 'Barn Find'.
Also
does anyone actually buy minis these days, the price of them is a complete joke - rotten old heaps from the 80s going for £2K+

a 1967 Mini Cooper is a classic in my eyes, a 1989 Mini City Auto is VERY not!

Ah, but with a V5 and a little bit of effort that '89 City Auto may well become a '67 Cooper

or at least something Pre 73 with free road tax
The last rotten 70's fixer upper mini 1000 we bought about two years ago cost me £150 but I reckon it would be a struggle to find something sensible now. A bit sickening really having just "sold" it on six months ago for about £850 (actually swapped for something of about that value that we then flogged on) but it was going to a young lad.
I really should keep an eye on the price guides & Ebay better
