Black brake fluid

#1 Post by ancient briton »

Having just read the topic of black brake fluid in the tecnical section it reminded me of when I were a mere slip of a lad (thats some time ago).
My father was always losing his brakes and so I would get roped into pumping the brake pedal as he bled the brakes, The fluid was always black and he would resuse it by pouring it back into the system, It was only when I left school and started work as an apprenice mechanic that I learned that this was incorrect. Its a miracle that the family survived.
I honestly thought it was normal and you had to pump the brakes in order for them to work :o
