This topic has been avoided but it is time we had a little look at what
the general population think

Here is a thread on neons.org which is an American based website where
they are trying to be civilized while discussing gun control and their 2nd
amendment rights!

Terry I did post this in the off topic are for that reason. But is a
car forum that the discussion is being ran on, and they will probably
mention about what they think on the British take on gun control etc

And how many of use have seen the news and thought are all Americans
like that?

i thought americans were all either rappers or oil barons  or could they just be normal folk just like us ;)

back to gun control
as a responsible gun owner & hunter etc, one of the many reasons i left the uk was because of the harrasment received from the police. the americans could probably to with being a bit tighter on gun control but not as bad as the uk. what ever control is in place you will never stop the determined nutter.

That weirdo who went on the rampage recently running people over with a van would probably were he in certain parts of the USA have used an assault weapon instead. I can see absolutely no reason for anyone needing anything more than a one round at a time hunting rifle. The 'right to bear arms' was never intended to allow angry low self-esteem civilians to hoard M16's and piles of ammo, it was written into the constitution at a time of great political instability to allow civilian militia men to protect the fledgling United States. Minutemen-farmers with muzzle loading weapons ceased to be a neccesity for state security once the US has a proper standing army. I do despair when I see comments in the press that the school massacre wouldn't have happened had the teachers been armed!
