This is the very car I sold to this guy last year for £1200!

And from what I can see its in worse condition as its been left outside. So he buys it, leaves it standing outside for 18 months then adds £800 to the price, bargain! Old cars arent like wine, they don't go up in value the longer you leave them stagnant.....

I think the logbook says 1 owner, I can't remember. We had no intention of keeping it hence didnt update the logbook, but yes...some poeple eh?

If you were the one who sold him the car, you could always do the dirty and report him to eBay as he must know that your address and the one in the log book are different. Perhaps he's implying that only one owner used it on the road, which is reasonable.

The annoying thing is that someone with more money than sense will look at it, perhaps Bernie will be making a second series....

And this is why you should always complete the paperwork properly when transferring ownership...

Most likely, the difference with me was I listed in detail the history of the car and made it clear the logbook wasn't in my name as I had no intention of keeping it

If the logbook shows 1 former keeper (ie 2 in total) then he's what he's saying is correct. He is after all a dealer and so his name won't be in the log and he won't count as a keeper. I'm guessing the OP made a profit on the car when he sold it a he says he didn't plan to keep it. The dealer is just doing the same. If the car is not worth the asking price then he won't get it, but all he's doing is trying to make a living, the same as the rest of us.

That's how I read it. In fairness to the trader, he hasn't been keeping it outside. Had he done so, fresh air and a stiff wind would probably have kept it dry, he admits that the advancing surface rust is caused by storage under a leaking roof, so no useful breeze blowing around the poor old thing perhaps?

Welshie, in your thread concerning the Cresta from a year ago past April, you said

Now, if we assume that the trader's inspection has been more detailed - reasonable I feel since your thread concerns several cars, the fates of which weren't certain and which must have taken much of your attention - then I think it's entirely possible that little if any deterioration has taken place since it changed hands after all; that jacking point couldn't have crumbled to that extent in a year, could it? Not indoors.

Here's hoping that he finds a good home for the car, it's about time it had one.

Oh sure, god i don't want this to start into an argument. The only point of my thread was if he paid £500 for it then wanted £1000 then thats realistic. But to pay what was probably over the odds for it THEN try to add a profit into that is unrealistic, that was my only point. I'd have my doubts as to how long its been sitting inside or out as the surface runs on things like the bumper indicate to me its gotten wet more than once, and seriously at that.

Its like me buying a £6000 MGB, doing absolutely nothing to it for a year except leave it in a barn then ask £10,000 for it. Not exactly realistic if I wanted to make a living is it?

No, but I can't help but admire the guy's ambition. If it's true that God loves a tryer, then this bloke will probably live forever.
