That '18' couldn't be a '13' could it?

They also do a 30X55X17 Taper Roller Bearing

If not, then it could be worth giving them a call anyway. I bought a seal from them recently for a BMW and it arrived next day, costing about £6 against BMW's £22.

Hi yoeddynz. Your front wheel bearings are not from a Ventura. They may however be from a Ventora. An ebay search for "Ventora bearing" brings back about 6 results - these bearings are not rare. Now those Ventura bearings....wow, they're like hens teeth. 8-)

Just had delivery of a new bearing for my orbital sander, ordered Wednesday ,delivered this morning.
Got it from www.simplybearings.co.uk Very reasonably priced as well. Give them a try, either with measurements or the number off the old bearing

The nearest I can find are 55, 30, 17 - from "Bearing Boys". Perhaps a 1mm spacer could be used?

I suspect the "Ventura" you are thinking of is a Pontiac ;)

As said already, the number stamped on the bearing would be the best way of identifying it - I doubt Vauxhall would have had a special bearing made for the car, so there should be one available somewhere!

Are you sure it's a metric size? It could be an imperial size. The width should not be a problem unless you have a spacer between both taper roller bearings . The bearings that are 17mm wide should tighten up and then slack off slightly before putting in the split pin.

For what it's worth, this is what I would recomend.

Take your old bearing down to your local bearing suppliers - try the yellow pages. The one in Halifax is called Spen Bearings.

Tell them that it is for an AUTOMOTIVE application. If you don't, they will sell you a normally rated bearing that will fail prematurely. That goes for the aforementioned websites that other posters recomend.

They should be able to sort you out with something in either metric or imperial unless it's a real oddball thing like a shouldered bearing, extended inner ring, or has some form of additional groove.

SKF are generally seen as the ones to match for quality - most other makes have part numbers based on the SKF catalogue.
