Teacher's cars
My English teacher had a Dolomite 1850 but best for me was Mr Heather's Saab 99, in beige, with the horizontal headlamp wipers that still intrigue me, he went on to run the Karting club at school which though we never made it to a race was alot of fun, would a school now let 13 year old kids run round a playground in an ageing 100cc national kart? I was the first one to spin it, off the playground and backwards across the playing field, I had no idea.

Re: Teacher's cars
In primary school, I remember my standard one teacher had a Morris Oxford (Could have been a Cambridge....it was a Farina), the standard two/three teacher (Standard three was split by age) had a blue Mini and I seem to remember the standard three and four teacher had an 11/1300 estate. Before I got into his class, the school merged with another and I can't remember the cars there so much, as they were parked out of sight and I was only there for a year. I know one teacher had a Volvo 245, simply because my father had one at the same time. I remember the local nurse, who used to stick needles in people, had a blue Capri.
To comprehensive, there was old "Josh", who had a beaten up Wolesley 16/60, that some of the pupils used to help push into it's parking space (It was a kind of ongoing joke), “Hitler” had a brown Mk 3 Cortina, Dot the old Latin teacher (A very good teacher) had a nice Vanden Plas 1300, Mr Jacobs (Don't really know what he taught; most of his pupils were deadbeats) always had things like TR6s but he had a Spitfire for a while. He used to race Mr Beaverstock to school (They'd go hammering past the school bus some days). Initally Mr B had a Marina TC but on the dual carriageway, that he used for part of his commute, a car crossed the central reservation and the Marina was written off (He and his passenger, Mr Sanger, were off school for a while after that). When he came back to school, he has an Escort 1600 Sport. There was another teacher called "Rolf" (As in Harris) and he had a BMW 3.0CSI, followed by a Porsche 911 and a Rover P4 (After more than thirty years I can't remember in what order). My metal work teacher (He also taught motor mechanics but I didn't have the option to do that in school
), Mr Powell, had a Marina. The headmaster had a Wolseley 6 and then an Allegro Vanden Plas; his deputies had a Marina and a Mk 4 Cortina respectively. “Skull”, who was married to “Grasshopper” had a Renault 16. One of the domestic science teachers had a nice new MGB GT. Later on Miss Gough (& Drop) had a Toyota Cressida. That’s about all the old memory can recall right now

Re: Teacher's cars
Most of my teachers drove cars that didn't stick in my memory. Some that did:
- A teacher at my Primary school who drove a Mk11 Escort RS2000.
- The Woodwork teacher at my High school drove a bright yellow VW-based Kalita beach buggy.
- The Metalwork teacher had a Mk1 Cortina four door with a souped up 1600 X-flow in it. He used to drive it hard. I remember he drew up beside my school bus one day, dropped it two gears and shot off into the distance with a couple of visits to probably 6000rpm. It sounded awesome.

Re: Teacher's cars
At my "Prep" school, the deputy head was a classic car freak and had a Mk VIII Jag (I think - I can't remember Jag models!) with failed autobox (and pop riveted patches all over it). He sold that to a former pupil and bought a pre-war Daimler - which had a habit of switching its wipers on when left unattended and also had a pre war Vauxhall that he never used. His daily was a Minor (HFF 179 IIRC) and the Head had an Oxford (HFF 178).
At my senior school (the first closed as it was losing money!), the English Teacher had a rotten Ford Classic (it was about nine years old when it went for scrap) followed by a Fiat (I think). The Physics (later Maths) teacher had a Lanchester, followed by a Fiat 500!
That was all between about '62 and '70, when classic cars weren't at all common - those listed were all "old bangers" to the pupils!

Re: Teacher's cars
At junior school we had a rather snooty and self important teacher names Mrs. Scott. When she got herself a brand new MGB in Harvest gold she took our class outside to see it being exorcized and blessed by a local priest. Yep it was a Catholic school, but I have since recovered and it has not put me off MG's.
Re: Teacher's cars
The only one vaguely classic was my form tutor's minor traveller.
By far the best was Mr Johnston (PE) who had both a corrado VR6 and a sapphire cosworth. This obviously granted him legendary status with the lads!

Re: Teacher's cars
My art teacher had a new grey Ford Orion 1.6 Ghia; many a school kid could be seen looking inside the car. I believe it was an A-reg from memory.
A PE teacher had a silver Mitsubishi Colt before he replaced it with a red Ford Orion.
My physics teacher had a blue Ford Corsair 2000, think it was something like an F-reg. I remember the day he was complaining about the orange peel on his car after he had had it resprayed.
Another teacher had a Fiat X19 which captured many a kids’ imagination.
My computer teacher had a brand spanking new black Saab 900 (non turbo). I remember that car well because one time when we walking home from school, the Saab had a collision with the school bus. Front bumper was badly damaged but it was still able to drive ok.
I’m pretty sure one of the teachers had an early (ish) Metro.
