Hi, could anyone recommend a cheap electronic ignition kit for my 71' p6 V8. At the moment i've got the Lucas 35D distributor with points. Have tried the Accuspark kit but it didn't fit my early dizzy

Ideally i would like to replace the distributor assembly as well.

If you want to replace your entire dizzy you could look at one from a range rover. I have a brand new britpart one fitted to mine, It cost £150 from a specialist.
I HATE to recomend them but RPi will have something that will do the job. I have come to expect a bad attitude from them when you are asking questions or reporting a problem.

Appreciate the reply Terry, could you tell me is the wiring much different to a conventional dizzy?

It uses the same 2 wires that your points dizzy does.
This one is £100 so it won't break the bank:

You will "need" a 3-2 pin converter (you only use the outside 2 wires and it gives you the correct plug that you can solder on to your existing loom or use some spade connectors)

SimonBBC stuff is none other than Britpart with his margin added. Now OK, this country has,
at the time of writing, a free market economy but the lad's taking the wotsit with his markups!

Thanks for the replies, its much appreciated especially for a layman like myself. I think I will order one, looks a nice bit of kit. I hope its as straightforward as it sounds though

. Many Thanks

Ordering directly from Britpart (MM) it costs only little more than half as much and they, unlike some suppliers (naming no Simons) will honour warranty claims, should they be called upon to do so.

Isn't John from this very parish offering Acuspark kits now?
