hi i am having trouble with the brakes on my 58 single circuit vw beetle, i have replaced everything slave cylinders master cylinders all flexy pipes and all hard lines . also the 3 way joint at the back was replaced , i am using my freinds suction bleeder which attaches to the nipple and sucks fluid through rather than forcing it through via the resivoir. it will not bleed correctly and just passes a small amount of fluid and mostly air .... so i am thinking that i have a leak somewhere... how do i pin point which component is leaking as none are seeping fluid ?????????
help please its driving me mad!!!!!!!!
finding air leak on brakes???
Re: finding air leak on brakes???
Are you sure the air is coming from the system itself? The problem with suction bleeders is that they can suck air in from around the threads on the bleed nipples - pressure bleeding systems avoid this problem. Try liberally coating the threads around the bleed nipples with thick grease and see if it's still showing air bubbles.
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.
Re: finding air leak on brakes???
I've never had any great success with this type of bleeder. Try the old fashioned way of getting a helper to press the pedal. I had all sorts of problems doing the clutch slave on my mg, sorted in 5 mins with the help of a pedal pusher!
