I have always thought of Tottenham as a rough area but this is taking the cake!
I think i have picked the right time to move out of London.

A little hint the north south divide is real but not in the way they say.
It's cheaper to live up here and less stressful, you get more bang for your buck and there are jobs.

Bloody ridiculous

Some bloke, obviously a gang type, gets stopped by plod (who obviously has intelligence that he is carrying a weapon),he shoots first and is then killed by armed plod (quite rightly so IMHO) then it all kicks off big time
Was watching a live broadcast this morning with a local MP,the crowd were shouting 'We want justice!',well I'm sorry if you carry a gun you run the risk of being shot dead by the police, end of.

Can only agree with you all and much like Terry - can not wait to get out of what is probably one of the most unsociable places we have ever lived in !

all the young lads aparently were complaining about police stop & search tactics... welcome to my world when i lived in the uk i was always being pulled over or stopped.. its always me who gets pulled in at customs, i was stopped once for slowing down for a change of speed limit 60 down to 40..etc etc i was in the process of moving once & renewed my gun licence with the new address, i was threatened with arrest for not informing them of my new address. what made it worse the guns stayed in the same place, this is quite legal. if someone carries an illegal firearm & get shot its their own stupid fault.. now i live over here ive been pulled over once in 6 years for a breathalyser check.. i dont miss the uk for that

Police are human beings and are therefore flawed. It’s like anything else, it isn’t that someone is a cyclist, a motorist or whatever else, that makes them get it wrong; it’s the fact that they are human. Even in the early days of my grandparents, the Police could be unpopular (“Once a policeman never a man” was a saying at the time) and there was talk of serious corruption when Merthyr Tydfil had it’s own force.

I have seen reports that the dead man did not fire a gun) but if he was carrying a hand gun (So far it is still said that he was carrying one) and refused to lay it down, then he should have realised that he would be shot.

Frankly I don’t think the rioters could give a damn about the man that was shot; they just used it as an excuse to go on the rampage. Afterall, premises that had nothing to do with the Police were wrecked and looted. When it gets out of order like that, I think the army should be called in with fixed bayonets.

My father was brought up in Southall but his parents returned to the South Wales area after WW2. My father has fond, if distant, memories of Southall, just as he has of living in Cardiff around 1950. However things have undoubtedly changed and from what I see, many of these large urban areas now appear to be something of a jungle and I’m certainly glad to be able to live relatively “Out in the sticks”. I don’t think the people are necessarily any better (Perhaps you don’t get quite the degree of thuggery) but there are fewer of them.

A load of bored teenagers who want to vent some anger and get "free" trainers from looting JD Sports.
It's just as well i'm not incharge or i would have called in the TA with live ammunition.
