Hi All,
Just brought a Peugeot 306 Cabriolet cheap as a bit of summer fun, as my three classics are all laid up or giving me grief. The 306 has been stood for about 18 months and is having a bit of recommioning work done. First problem I have is that the powered rag top roof won't work. Guy I brought it off said it is a simply a relay that needs replacing, also the electric windows wont work either side. As a classic fan I have not had much to do with electric roofs or windows so its all a bit new. Any one come a cross these before? Have joined the owners club and will post on there forum but thought I would try you guys first. I know you will ask me loads of things like have I got power here and there but as yet have not looked at the problem at all, just wondering if its a quick fix before I dig the multi meter out.

Gut instinct is "if it's that simple a fix, why didn't he do it before sale?" It may well be a simple relay, but if he already knew that it can't be that hard to swap out & then he could have made more for the car...

check it out & then call an auto electrican...

Fuses checked Relays substituded Some are the same and can often be checked from the info on the box lid without a manual even.
Sounds simplistic but is always the first step, then if blown WHY
Also, it's a convertable, so has there been water ingress, which is quite common and rots carpets and seats and of course can play havoc with electrics

As above but also the roof will not work if windows inop so check them first. You have to have handbrake on too, so is brake warning light working?. There is also a micro switch in the roof on o/s by b post under the rubber seal, this senses when roof is open or closed & is a common fault ( adjustment). But start with windows, when handbrake on & roof button operated the windows wind down first then the roof will fold. Make sure you don't stop half way because the system will have to be manually reset. There is if I remember rightly a switch in the tailgate/ boot that has a weight in it. If it does not sense the boot is closed again the system will not work. I think there are micro switches in the quarter panels too. I had one in a few months ago that had stretched the webbing straps & this caused a problem going back up & would not tension against roof micro switch but if pressure put against switch the roof would work. Hope you find something here useful .
