I have a 1975 Mitsubishi J26 Jeep with 2.6 Ltr 4 cylinder ASTRON engine and 4 speed KM141 gearbox.

I am having difficulty engaging 2nd when changing down so think this might indicate a worn synchromesh.

I've changed the oil and a small amout of metal "filings" came out attached to the magnets inside the drain and filler bolts.

I suspect that I might need someone to machine up a new synchromesh but first I need to find someone to atke the box out, diagnose the problem. Then hopefully do the work.

Mitsusbishi UK can't help me due to the age and rareity of the vehicle.

I would appreciate any suggestions as to who I might try in the West Midlands, South West as I line in Tewkesbury.

Many thanks,
Bernard
