PM's

Hi back after a break and am going to ask a silly question as usual, actually one I asked before and was requested to send an email to reply. Now I know I am not the brightest spark by a mile but this is the problem. I received notification that I had a private message waiting for me here OK, log on and go to PM's and read message and OK, the problem is in TRYING to reply, how do you do that??????? It seems that there is nothing as simple as a box to write the message in and a reply button. when I click submit then I get a red message to the effect that I have not entered the recipients name, I try to add it, probably in the wrong place, and recipient not known????
There is a box with ADD and BCC or something like that (cant remember, must make a note.) what the heck does that mean, I remain confused as ever.
Can someone please explain IN VERY SIMPLE TERMS what to do please.
Martin Evans I am not ignoring you but I can not reply to you, yes please to the DVD cases will be great many thanks, I will try and discuss when I can sort out how to work the++++++ mail system.
Thank you.
Cheers, one confused idiot.
Geoff.

I can see you're getting the inbox messages (Else you wouldn't know about the DVD cases), so I've done another PM, giving you my email address.

Many thanks Martin yes I can get notifications via Thunderbird that I have a private message and log on to PC and private messages with no problem but it seems that trying to send a reply is not working. I tried to reply to your PM and also send you a 'fresh' PM and according to the message I had you do not exist as a member or recipient.
I have sent you a email to the address that you kindly provided.I hope that you received it.
Have tried.
XP home, Thunderbird.
Windows 7, live mail 2011.
Cheers, any one like to comment or had similar problems?
Geoff.

Odd. On my screen I see a "reply" button bottom left of the original PM. I'm on Subsilver2 theme, I can't remember where the reply button is on the normal default theme, but I'm sure there is one, I've used it many a time.

Hello I will try and explain this as best I can, I tried to copy and paste it to make it easier but that didn't work.
Click on messages --------- user control panel.
Box on left side.
compose message.
manage PM drafts.
inbox.
outbox.
sent messages.
rules,folders,settings.
TO the right of this.
view messages: inbox.
folder is 12% full.
SENDREPLY .(red, in box.)
my email.
from martin evans.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CLICK send reply.
compose message.
To: martin evans. next to name a small box with an 'X' in it.
below that is a blank box , beside that is.
Find a member.
ADD.
ADD(BCC)
below that .
PM icon etc.
Subject. Re. my email.
B.i.U/quote/code/etc.
BOX FOR MESSAGE.
Load. Save. Preview. SUBMIT.
ETC.
ETC.
click submit and in red comes up Martin Evans not a member /recipient unknown.
Now this happens whether I try to reply to a message or try to send a 'fresh' one.
I have sent a email to his email address and not as such received a reply??
Sorry for the long post.
Cheers.
Geoff.

That's forum
email you're referring to, I thought that the trouble you're having related to PMs?
For forum email to work, the intended recipient wants to enable it in their user CP.

Hello John, sorry now I am really confused, which is quite easy. I thought that 'PM' stood for Private Message , this does not work when trying to reply to Martin, it does not work when sending a 'fresh' message IE. not a reply to a message.
Martin kindly sent me his personal email address in a PM which I received and I sent a message to him using his email address to which I have yet to receive a reply to, so maybe his mail is not working. I don't know.
Again apologies I am not as you may have guessed computer literate and have a job to remember what I wrote 10 minutes age or even 2 minutes.
When I click on 'My messages' then the page I described is what I get.
Still bl++dy confused. I think the answer is to just shut up and not ask silly questions.
Cheers.
Geoff.
