Exhaust fitting problem

Hi all,
I have just spent the best part of the day trying to refit the exhaust to my Series IV Rapier after a very, very lengthy restoration, and it doesn't fit
.
Same engine (rebuilt)same manifold, same exhaust (stainless steel),all brackets, hangers etc as per parts book but no matter what I try the front box fouls the undersde of the body. There is some damage on the front of the box which is due to it striking an obstacle, before I aquired the car, although a little crushed it is intact and servicable.I can only concluded that the impact must have bent the downpipe upwards by a few degrees thus putting the exhaust out of line.
My question is does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can bend the bottom section of the pipe that joins the box.I have limited workshop facilities,no oxy etc for major heat, and sourcing engineering workshops here in France is difficult.
Cheers
Just had a flash of inspiration
I could introduce a short lenght of flexible pipe between the downpipe and the box, does anyone have any experience of how good this stuff is?
