Hi, my Dad is going to be 70 this year and I was wondering whether it might be possible for him to have a seat in one of the cars that are driving the london-brighton race. We spent many hours as children watching the cars go past/ breakdown at the Bolney flyover so it would be great if we could arrange this for him. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

I doubt anyone on this forum owns one of the participating 'veteran' cars involved, but you never know, good luck.

No, but I know a man who does!
The chairman of the Surrey Vintage Vehicle Society is a good friend (and I'm a member) and may well be able to help.
Contact him at
vintman@svvs.org - you can say that Rick suggested you contact him.
His name is Bozi Mohacek.
I can't promise that he can help, but he
may be able to do so, particularly if you're in a position to contribute something to the owner of whatever vehicle you end up with.
Hope this helps

Can't we just call our cars "Future Veterans" and then we'll be eligible?

Don't start that one again or a user that likes Porsches and Morris Minors will appear to explain what is and isn't allowed in to the club!

Its not a race by the way. Never has been. That'd be illegal on the public highway

Failing Luxo's excellent contact you can always try - The Veteran Car Club of Great Britain and if all else fails Bonhams hold a veteran auction on the Saturday and there tends to be a few seats for the run available for auction (talk about last minute though - the run is the following day) - to be fair to the owners, they normally donate any money made from this to charity. Last time I looked I think £100 - £150 was the going rate.

There is talk and a bit more - presently looking at clashing dates etc and will list suitable dates soon and see what suits the majority - probably September looks favorite - this will not be an official PC run has the mag has not really shown any interest (what a great marketing opportunity they are missing and would cost them nothing - unlike the pitches at the major events they attend) - Anyhow nothing to stop it from being the 'Official Practically Classics Forum - London to Brighton run'
