Dear All,

I have a number of old cars and interested in some feedback on in garage storage systems. I'm interested in storing a rolling shell for about 3 years until my boys are old enough to help me build it into a hot rod.

I have had a carcoon and liked it by it did not keep the moisture out.

I have had a couple of airflow chambers and found them not fit for purpose (disintergrated over a 3 year period and did not keep moisture out)

I have seen another advertised which is a sealed bag with a steel container inside which absorbs the moisture and slows down the rusting process.

Has anyone out there had first experience with this product and care to share it?

My experience with a "Carcoon" is at odds with yours - I have the outside version which has a silver rubberised outer cover to protect from the elements and it has proved itself over several winters.
I used it to store an MGB ooutside for two winters and the car emerged in the same pristine condition that it went in and started first crank of the starter - the carcoon system has a battery maintenace trickle charger built in.
I also used it to store a concours Herald and again the car emerged after a winter stay as imaculate as when it went in with no sign of corrosion or even dust anywhere.
My outside Carcoon also comes in as tempory shelter if I need more garage space than my tandem garage allows, to work on another car - it has even survived a foot or so of snow on ocasions and as long as you sweep it off once the blizzard abates it is fine.
The outside version, I cannot speak for the standard see through version. also has a design feature that allows you to store a wet car - there is a zipperd flap which allows the damp air to emerge untill such time as you judge that the car has dried out, you then close the flap. It must work as my cars always emerged as if they had spent time in a heated showroom
A slight limitation for inside use is that because of the double skin design it is quite bulky - you need to consider that it will be a foot larger all round than the car inside.
Finally, if you use it outside the neighbours will think you have a small airship on the driveway, in fact mine has R101 written on it with marker pen
