It's not the buying that's the problem mate, it's that I can't get back to where it is and I've been trying since page five of this thread! I missed the deadline for travelling as they couldn't provide a workable, land-based solution (I can't fly) this time so what could have been both an interesting exchange post and the only opportunity to get my mini back to the UK that I'm likely to get.
It's not all bad news though; I only lost a few
hundred quid on the hut that I bought out there and its present owner is ever so grateful to my employers for fitting it up with running water and a generator.

'Cos I don't have the arms for it!
Boring medical doings mate, apparently my eyeballs will explode if I go up there. At least I think my consultant neurologist used the word "eye"...

Are you sure the consultant didn't have a strong regional accent? "eye...." meaning "ay!!!! ......"

I've been trying to sort that but time ran out and the exchange organisation in the Americas couldn't wait for a solution so they gave the gig to someone who was able to hop on an aircraft and start by the beginning of next spring.
Terrorists would probably have more joy finding suitable transport!
This reminds me of the mate who bears a resemblance to Mullah Omar but with two eyes, the exploding Jeep at Renfrew airport and the Reliant Kitten steering rack that they let through customs without even questioning what was in that slim, weapon-shaped tube, but that's a post for another day..

If only Cord and my exchange posting had been based in France! Arguably, I wouldn't have noticed much difference, especially if they'd put me among students in certain parts of Paris.

But at least I could have driven there with a bit of Motorail travel thrown in.
